I have about 4,000 songs I'm trying to sync to my iPhone, until recently I've always just synced them at their normal size.

But with my collection growing I decided to check the "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC" option. I realized this would take a while, but once it's complete, will I ever be able to restore my iPhone and have a backup of these smaller files when I want to sync it again?

Or do I have to always have this option checked and in the future if I get a new iPhone I will have to go through this process again.

Thanks...
