I am re-ripping my CD collection as lossless instead of AAC. As I'm sure most of you know, this causes the size of song files to increase dramatically (9MB to 32MB etc.). This is fine for my Mac, but on my 16GB iPod and iPhone I want to carrie around more music.
iTunes will convert higher-bit songs to 256kps on sync. Are these files stored anywhere taking up more space on my Mac or are they created and deleted on the fly? Are there any downsides to using this option aside from decreased sound quality on my iOS/iPod?
