iTunes crash when choosing to sync w/ Higher Rated Items

This is really weird. I have a Macbook, 1 GB iPod Shuffle, and updated Tiger. I can sync the iPod with my iTunes library just fine as long as I don't enable the "Choose Higher Rated Items More Often" option. If I do that, then I get the spinning pinwheel of death. I have no choice but to force quit iTunes.

Anyone else ever experience this problem? Any hints on solving it? I'm kind of stumped.
