itunes crashes when hooking up iphone

This only started yesterday ... it was all working fine for about 3 weeks. Don't know what's up. I have itunes 8.0 and got an iphone 3g (2.1 firmware). Is this a glitch with itunes? My computer crashed 3 times today when trying to hook my iphone up. It also crashes when purchasing music on itunes. HELP!

Are you running vista? iTunes 8 bluescreens my pc occasionally when I plug in any of my iPods/iPhone but upgrading to the latest version is supposed to fix this problem, so try that.

Check this

I had the same problem, after much searching I found a post that fixed things for me.
It turned out that I was having an issue with my webcam driver.
Its a logitech webcam.
After updating my itunes, every time I hooked up my iPhone it would crash my computer to the BSD.
I updated the webcam driver to a newer one and that fixed my problem.
Give it a try it may work for you.
