iTunes crashes when syncing with AppleTV

OK, so i have a 40GB TV, and whenever i pres the "Sync" button it crashes the whole app, and i have to force exit and spend a stupid amount of time have iTunes "Check" my library.

I also suspect that my entire iLife is on the fristz, because iPhoto buggered up and did not show any photos... and iDVD crashes whenever i clicked its icon...

What is causing the iTunes problem though... :confused::confused::confused:
