Itunes delay problem with external hard-drives

I have iTunes trouble. There is a 10-15 second delay in between songs. It also takes 10-15 seconds to initially play a song. My music library is on a 1 year old external 1tb hard drive.

When I play songs (from the external hard drive) continuously on front row, there is absolutely no delay in between songs and no delay when I play songs initially.

Is your external drive connected by USB, Firewire 400, Firewire 800, or eSATA?

Firewire 800 is MUCH faster than USB 2.0, especially for streaming music or video from an external drive. I would highly recommend FW800, especially on a 1TB drive.

yeah but I play the same music from the same hd on my win7 partition on the same laptop on itunes and there is no delay or freeze.
