Itunes does not recognize SIM Card

I'm asking for a friend. He bought a 3G Iphone. Bought something like TurboSim to unlock the phone. That works fine. But when he wants to sync his phone to Itunes 8.0, it says it does not recognize the SIM card. Therefore can't do any syncing.

Any solution around this problem?
