Itunes does not show in web browser-OSX 10.3.9

Hi-massively dim in all this. I need to convert some mp4 music files to mp3 to move to sansa clip mp3 player. Info I read said to click on preferences in iTunes to do this but, iTunes does not show up in my web browser and so there is no menu with preferences. Where to now? Any help is very gratefully received. Cheers!

You need to launch iTunes and then go to iTunes -> Preferences. iTunes is a separate program.

Oh, how I wish I could. That's the issue for me, I don't see how to access 'Preferences' from iTunes. Help?
