iTunes doesn't recognize iPhone 6

When I open iTunes, my iPhone 6 does not appear on the left. The only time it does is when I connect it to my computer with the USB. My iPad is shown on the left. I have checked all the necessary areas to have it recognized with Wifi.

Any suggestions?

i think there are other threads on this. i dont know if its an 8.0.2 bug or if its something where an itunes update is needed.
