iTunes downloading extremely slow

I live in japan if it makes a difference, but download through US iTunes.

Starting tonight, my subscribed tv shows are downloading extremely slow. the time is jumping around crazy from ETA 2 minutes to 203hours. Rented a movie on ATV and there was no lag. Not sure what is going on, is anyone else having issues?

I am in the US on the east coast and can't get iTunes to open the store. It is like some DNS problem is going on but I have not verified this yet. Apple.com is also very slow.

iTunes store is unbearably slow here in the UK too.
