So I've had this annoying thing keep happening with all of the new tracks I add to iTunes that I've purchased via the iTunes store.

Initially the tracks download and show up fine, but when I come back to my computer some time later, I see multiple versions of each track. A "local" version, as well as a "cloud" version. Both added to the library at the same time.

What's annoying is that if I go to delete the "cloud" version, it only offers me the ability to "hide" my purchase. So what I've had to do for many of these is manually delete the local versions, then download the cloud version (for a second time, with the purchase being the first time) and then add it to whatever relevant playlists again etc... I also lose any plays and stats I have for that track as the one that would have been synced to my phone and played already would have been the initial "local" version.

This only happens for tracks I buy via iTunes.

Any thoughts?

I have "Apple Music" disabled.
I'm on iTunes 12.8.0.15 and on OSX 12.12.6

Solved the problem, so updating thread for future searches/posterity.

After much looking around and tinkering the answer was found in changing the "View" setting for "Only Downloaded Music".
