iTunes extremely slow

I have been using windows as my main OS for a few months, but I recently decided to start using SL again. When I'm in iTunes, I notice that it is extremely slow to forward to the next song or for a song I selected to load. Everything hangs for about 3 seconds before the song starts. I never had this issue before. What's the deal?

iTunes is known to be a slow application on Mac OS X.

Try reinstalling it, updating it, or removing the com.apple.iTunes.plist file from ~/Library/Preferences.
