iTunes family sharing question

I have family sharing set up on my kids devices. I was wondering how others have set it up with respect to the iCloud and iTunes account fields in settings.

I have their own iCloud storage (under their iTunes id) and am using my app store id under iTunes and app store. Should their ID be used in the app store id area?

It would be nice if they could pool into my central iCloud storage since I have to upgrade storage plans anyway (they are both beyond 5GB easily). Has anybody done that and it works?
