My iTunes was working ok, and since a software update, everytime I open iTunes it says the other users can't share files until I open port 3689.

I'm a Mac newbie, but I've searched help, looked at my firewall preferences, but nowhere can I find where this port 3689 is, or more to the point open the damn thing!

Any help would be much appreciated. thanks

if you're using the built in firewall-- in the list called "allow" (in the control pane), add a new rule opening this port. if you're using other firewall software, poke around until you can find a place to allow connections on that port.

The iTunes port is the last option in your firewall preferences; you need to scroll down to see it.
