I've begun the proces of consolidating my music onto my iTunes Media Folder on an external hard drive. However, I would like to store some music locally on my laptop for when I'm not at home.

What's the best set up in Finder/iTunes to avoid getting those dreaded exclamation points every time I try to play the locally stored music on my laptop when my external hard drive is not connected? I assume I will because iTunes will be pointed to the folder of the external, so when I try to play music I stored on the laptop, it's going to ask me to find it in Finder for each song. I want to avoid that part ha.

Thanks for any input.

So I followed the directions here and have my music stored on an external. I plugged into my AEBS and Finder recognizes it but obviously iTunes wants me to find each song on the hard drive. Is there an easier way to do this?
