I am trying to find out why my iTunes music folder is around 10gb larger than the music iTunes shows in the status bar ?!

And pointers?

Thanks.

Remember each category (Music, Books, Movies, TV Shows, etc) is listed separately. And iOS apps don't even show total space used in iTunes. There's also the Album artwork folder and iTunes database files.

Thanks for the reply.

This is just the music folder.

On my iMac the folder is an exact match for the status bar. (AIFF)

But on my MBP which only has AAC music on it there is a 10 gb difference.

Just cant figure out why!

All iTunes content is stored in the music folder, which I know is somewhat misleading. This includes any movies you've purchased and downloaded from iTunes, and a couple of those would account for the 10GB difference.

Deleting music from iTunes, but not choosing to have it removed from the iTunes media folder, could also be a factor.
