iTunes fonction??? Need help

I've just bought a Mac, and would like to use iTunes, but I'm a bit confuse!!! Can I store my music in iTunes, or should I store it on my computer and just to listen to my music with iTunes. What's the library? Need help to understand. Thanks

Personally I let iTunes manage all my music files. I add them all to the Library then I don't have to worry about where they are. You can have iTunes not copy your music files into it's library folder, but they you have to managed where they all live!

I thinks it's the way to do, otherwise, if I store my music on my Mac, and on my iTunes, it will take double space on my hard drive.... Am I right? Thanks

it only makes double copies if you turn on the copy files to itunes directory and do not delete the songs from their original directory.

Basically, set a directory in iTunes and set it to manage and organize your collection. Than import all your music. Than delete the music from the ORIGINAL directory.
