iTunes for Windows ID3 Question

Does iTunes change the mp3 by modifiying the ID3 tagg when a song is added to the libary?
 
I don't think anything will be modified by adding it to the library. But what you do with the song after it's added will change the tag, such as changing the genre, or title.
