I have in my possesion an app the claims to be the alpha version of iTunes for Windows.
No, I'm not going to tell you where I got it or send it to anyone but I will go into as much detail as I can about this supposed leak.
It could be a small MP3 player with a very nice skin but who knows?
Some first impressions of the sofware:
-Its small. Less than 700kb.
-It looks a lot like iTunes, brushed metal, buttons, even the traffic lights are there on the left side (and they work) as opposed to the minimize/maximize/close buttons being on the right with most Windows apps.
-Equalizer is there, but non-functional.
-No visualizations.
-Eject button doesn't work.
-Playlists are non-functional, when you click the playlist button on this, you only get an option to add files, not create a new playlist.
-Sorting by artist/album/song/pretty much anything else is not supported, whereever your songs are when you first import them, that's where they're stuck at.
-AAC support is non-existent, I tried playing some of my AAC files (ripped from CD) and a little window popped up that said 'stream not supported'.
-The search feature works...sorta. It doesn't work like the iTunes OSX one where the songs that don't match are hidden, it just highlights the song that matches the best.
-No CD burning.
-No browsing by arist/genre/album.
-You can't rename songs with iTunes, they're stuck like you had them.
-No iTunes Music Store.
Overall it seems to be just a basic MP3 player, nothing more...which makes me lean towards a basic MP3 player with a very well done skin, but if it is indeed a leaked Alpha version, its a pretty good one that does what it needs to do.
Its damn snappy though, whatever it is.
Also...assuming this is legit, Apple's not just porting the existing iTunes application to Windows, just the basic interface it seems...this is completely written from scratch if the copy I have is actually iTunes for Windows.
If you have any more questions (besides where did you get it and where can I get it) and I'll be happy to answer them.
