itunes freezes after adding new music to iphone

I get the eternal beachball after I drag and drop music to my iPhone in iTunes 9 (latest). It was working fine 2 weeks ago. The music is transferred fine (after "sync in progress" goes away) but iTunes just freezes so I have to "Force quit"

Any ideas?

Reinstall iTunes? Uninstall and reinstall iTunes? What have you tried?
