Just yesterday I spent $4 for an update (Forget which update). Right after, I begin to download the update. To my surprise, it says my iPod needs to go into recovery mode. So I attempt that, and press 'Recover and Update'. I leave it for the night to update. The next morning I wake to no progress, and the thing is still 'going' apparently.

Right now, my Ipod has the following screen.

I think it's bricked, but I'm not sure how to fix it, I can't find any straight answers.

Now each time I boot up iTunes, it displays the following message. "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be used again with itunes."
