itunes genius gathering information...

I just reinstalled osx 10.5.8.. I launched itunes and told it where my mp3 collection was etc. now When I launch it just shows at the top genius is gathering information about my library.. problem is everything is unresponsive.. is this normal? how long will this take.. its been 15 minutes and still showing the same thing.

It is not normal to be running for 15 minutes. I would force quit, restart and try again.

I have done that also.. it does not do it each time I run itunes.. but every couple times.

Also I cannot use genius.. guessing its just taking awhile indexing my library? My library is roughly 20gigs total is all.

I will just let it goes and check on it later.. hopefully it will be done and working normally. although I never had this problem previously with my same library.

Try reinstalling iTunes.

i have a 60 gig library hosted on a firewire drive and it does not take any where near 15 minutes for it to do a genius analysis. i think you might want to reinstall itunes like is said above.

well that was it, let it go and it just completed.. working normally.. strange.
