iTunes - Genius Playlist problems

Whenever I try and create a genius playlist, genius creates a playlist of songs all from 1 artist (smash mouth). I have over 3000 songs in iTunes, a majority of the tags are correct. It was working when I only had 1000 songs in the library but quit working when I added the rest of my songs to the library.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I have tried updating genius and turning it off and on.

solution: all songs must be check in order for genius to work. my problem was that only smash mouth songs were checked.
