Hello all! This is my first time here and I am hoping that I can get an answer to my question. I have a G4 Powerbook and when I play movies in iTunes, the playback is absolutely sluggish. I have the same problem when playing video online. What could my problem be?

Specs:

15" G4 Powerbook
1 GHz PPC
2 GB DDR SDRAM
OS X 10.4.11

Thanks in advance!

Music playback should be fine but a 1 GHz PowerBook G4 doesn't really cut it anymore for certain videos and more so for Flash.

Not to sound too glib, but in a nutshell...

your Mac is OLD.

What version of iTunes are you using? What types of online videos are you having issues with, are they Flash?

Hi,

It's called planned obsolescents.

If DVD's play well then it isn't your computer.

I have a 1.33GHz iBook with 1.5GB of RAM.

Some videos it chokes on, especially in iTunes.

Sometimes VLC'll play them fine, in extreme cases I have to quit everything but VLC to get them to play smoothly. VLC seems to work better than Quicktime for me.

It's OK with streaming if it's nothing high quality, as soon as you get into youtube HD it's just pointless trying.

Basically, it is just old age.
