I'm going crazy over this issue. Here's a summary:
I bought the Ryan Adams Heartbreaker Deluxe Reissue (not from iTunes). The new album is in a Apple Lossless format and includes new tracks, so I wanted to replace my old Heartbreaker files in iTunes and my iPhone with the new versions. I deleted the old album and the new album is in my iTunes and plays just fine. However, it will not transfer to my iPhone no matter what I do. The songs are "checked", I've tried the "sync entire library" and "sync only checked songs" options. I've tried erasing all content and starting from scratch with reloading my entire library onto the phone. I've tried renaming the album to something different, I've tried deleting the entire album and reloading it to my iTunes library. Same result every time. iTunes completes the sync with my phone and there is simply no record of the album on my iPhone. Any other changes I make to my library are reflected after sync, just not this album.
