I am missing songs that I recently purchased on iTunes. They do not show up in my library. When I go to the iTunes store and look at the songs it says they are purchased. I have checked for available downloads in iTunes and it says everything is up to date.

Is there anyway for me to get these songs back?

On the iTunes store homepage, look at the menu on the right. Click "Purchased" (there is an orange NEW label next to it). In there, you should be able to find the music you purchased and from there you will be able to re-download it for no charge.
