I have a lot of experience using iTunes but came across a problem today.

I was playing around with the preferences but I don't think I changed anything and if I did I changed it back but I can not add music to iTunes.

For example, I have an album in my download folder and I select "add to library" and before it would add it to my iTunes app and the files will also be in my "iTunes media folder".

Today it will not show up in iTunes but it does go to my "iTunes media folder".

I cannot figure out a solution.

Can anyone help out?

There's a possibility that the songs are not tagged properly or lost their ID3 tag. I would open iTunes and press ⌘(command)+J which will bring up View Options. You can also access View Options by clicking on View on the menu bar. Then I would check Date Added, and arrange your library by Date Added. Look through your library to see if you can find the missing songs.
