iTunes ID tags not transferring over to other drives?

I have the latest iTunes and when ever I change or edit an ID tag within iTunes it doesn't carry over to any other application "OUTSIDE" of iTunes.

Why and is there a way to change this? I have 26k songs and it's imperative that I have them tagged correctly.
