iTunes ID3 editor slow from NAS

Hello All,

I just picked up 1080p ATV and am converting my movies to .m4v and .mp4
I've consolidated my library to a NAS DNS-323 and have kept the xml library locally. However, at this point I find editing any ID3 tags takes 5 mins for iTunes to update. The DNS is wired to an airport extreme where my iMac is wired to. Any suggestions or help on how to fix this or does ID3 tag adjustments take that long because it's an external library?
