I'm running iTunes 4.1.1 for Windows on a 1.6GHz Athlon with 512MB, lots of disk space, and a 40x Plextor CD-ROM drive.
Normally when I import audio CDs in iTunes they rip at 8-10x regardless of the codec (usually 320kbps MP3/AAC or uncompressed AIFF).
However, when I check "Use error correction when reading Audio CDs" in the import preferences panel, import speed drops to ~0.3-0.5x.
Is this 30x hit in performance normal when using error correction?
