iTunes imports one CD, then stops internet working

A friend of mine is having trouble with iTunes on Windows and I was wondering if anyone has heard of the problem before.

He's importing his collection of CDs in preparation for buying an iPod. He's downloaded the latest version of iTunes and its installed ok. But what happens is....

1. Puts CD in the drive.
2. iTunes connects to the web to get track info.
3. CD imports successfully.
4. Swaps next CD in to the drive.
5. iTunes can't connect to the web. Only a reboot gets the web back and working.

Any ideas?!?

He's now done a complete uninstall of iTunes and downloaded the latest version and still the same problem. I've told him to buy a Mac, but that advice isn't going down too well
