Will an iTunes library opened with a different version of iTunes on a different computer than it was created with mess it up (the libraries are stored on an external hard drive)? Does an iTunes library "belong to" the computer it was made with?
The situation is: I don't have my Powerbook G4 here (which the libraries were created with in the first place), so I have the external hard drive connected to my wife's iMac for the time being and now I'd like to transfer some podcasts and music over to my iPod Touch (manual transfer) from those libraries.
The (Intel) iMac runs MacOSX 10.6.8 and iTunes 10. The Powerbook G4 runs MacOSX 10.5.8 but I can't remember the iTunes version (I believe it's been updated recently).
And if this works without any issues, can I also create a new library (on the external hard drive) with the iMac and use that with later with my Powerbook?
