iTunes Library Category Question

What is the number to the right of my iTunes Podcast library category?

I also have a number to the right of my applications category and figured it is the number of updates available. If this also applies to my subscribed Podcasts, then I have no idea which podcasts have updates available. How do I find out?

Probably the number of podcast you haven't watched yet, indicated by the blue dot on the right side.

I have six to the right under my Podcast category, yet only 3 blue dots to the left of the actual podcasts.

Any hypothesis what else it might be then?
