iTunes library issues

OK, I just installed a new HDD in my macbook. I have my old library on an ext hdd, I just copied this directory and everything in it from my old hdd to an external.

/Users/username/Music/iTunes

How do I make iTunes on my Mac use this library on my external hdd? I don't want to move everything to my new hdd, I want to keep all the media files on the external drive.

OK, I copied the 4 files from the old /Users/username/Music/iTunes to the new hdd, changed the library location in iTunes, and it seems to be working now. But I am missing my apps, are they stored somewhere else?

OK, I just had to change the prefs to show the apps and all seems good now. I think I'm done having this conversation with myself now.
