I've got my music on a Linux desktop since my PowerBook's hard drive can't hold my music collection. I can read and write that network share without a problem; however, when I tell iTunes to add the Music folder to the library, it scans through every file and then... does nothing. Totally empty library, but no error messages. Any idea what's going on here?

My guess would be to take the folder that has the music on the network and just drop it onto itunes. Make sure of course that you turn OFF the copy music to library thing.

Where would this "Off" option be for OS X Panther in iTunes 4.8? I have all my songs on a larger partition but it continually tries to copy them to my smaller partition where it thinks the library should be.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it in the advanced tab
