I have an external TB drive that I like to plug directly into my Mac when at my desk for firewire speeds. When I move from my desk I plug it into my Airport Extreme so it is available on the LAN.

I have to keep telling iTunes where the library is. Is there a way that I can teach my Mac to refer to the disk so that it can figure it out?

when you switch to the airport network, you are going to have to mount the disk before opening iTunes. I put a shortcut to the drive in my dock. One extra click is all that is required.
