Hi all

Hoping I can get some help here with an iTunes issue I have. I used to have all of my music stored on an old Windows desktop but I was starting to outgrow that and also wanted to be able to use my iTunes library with my Windows laptop so transferred the music and library onto an external hard drive. So now I just plug the drive into my laptop, hold down shift as I open iTunes then select the library, nice and easy.

Since then though there is now an iMac in the household too, first Mac I've used. It's not mine so I rarely use it though. Anyway, what I'd like to be able to do is use my iTunes library that's on my external drive across both my laptop and the iMac. I'm not sure how this can be done though and I'm sure I've read about compatibility issues with syncing to the iPod if using both Windows and Mac?? Or is it simply a case of plugging my drive into the iMac, holding down shift as I open iTunes and accessing my library just as I do now with my laptop.

Really confused about it the more I've thought about it! So the ideal scenario is that I have my library on my external drive and can view it and sync to it from both the Windows laptop and iMac. If that's not possible then I'd like to move the music and library over onto the iMac and use that for managing and syncing my music. Again though, would that be an issue as all the iPods/iPhones in the house have only ever been synced with Windows machines previously? Is there a format issue?

I'm even more confused now having typed all that!! Look forward to hearing back from those that understand these things a lot better than I do!!

Thanks a lot...

Dan
