i dragged across some music from my external HDD to my macbook to folder (import) then dragged them into music folder then i open tuines to find

ALL MY MUSIC GONE? i reimport them and now i lost all my ratings......

thats over 9000 songs. you now how long that took me to rate them?

anyway rant over how can i get my ratings back! i tried importing the previous itunes database but nothing happens!

Here are some instructions I found on exporting ratings along with your iTunes library:

"Go to preferences (control - ,) and change the location of your library to the destination make sure it is set to keep your library organized.

"Go to the 'Advanced' drop down menu and hit 'Consolidate Library...'

"Takes a tad longer than copying the folder, but guaranteed to work as perfectly as possible. iTunes does not write metadata to the actual files every time you change something. This makes sure that that happens, and nsures that the database files are good."

I hope you get them back!

thanks

what ive done for now is delete all my music and just addedthe music i know i like forn now :)

all the data for iTunes like ratings, song counts, playlists etc are in the iTunes Library, iTunes Library.xml & iTunes Music Library.xml files in the iTunes folder. so if you can rescue them you can get your ratings back.
