Itunes Locks UP when Syncing iPhone 3GS

I upgraded to the new 9.0 version of iTunes and now my iPhone won't sync. Every time I try t it gives me the eternal windmill.... Solutions I've tried include the following:
-Plugging in iPhone while not connected to the airport
-Recreating iTunes Library
-Rebooting iPhone
-etc...

My equipment is:

MACBOOK PRO
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

I am having the exact same issue, the only difference is that I have a 1st gen IPhone.
