I recently started using iTunes match. I deleted all the matched songs from my mac, and redownloaded them in order to get all my tracks at a higher quality.

I noticed that my songs, which I often email/share with my fiancee, are now m4a files. They appear to be encrypted. Is there anyway around this, or is all my music permanently compatible with my IOS devices only?

No, I did not backup my music, unfortunately.

Thanks

iTunes songs do not have DRM. They are not encrypted. What makes you think they are?

m4a are not encrypted, m4p are. several devices can play m4a files, besides you can convert them to mp3s easily.
