I am attempting to move my music library to an external hard drive and have gotten very confused. I went through iTunes, changed the Media folder location, then consolidated my library. All of my music is now running fine through iTunes from my external. I just began syncing my iPhone, and it seems that iTunes recreated an "iTunes Media" folder on my laptop (with "Mobile Applications" in it) and began copying applications into it (and actually ended up killing all of the space I had left on my laptop... ouch). Shouldn't all of the applications be on the external as well? I thought that when you moved your iTunes media folder, it moved everything.

Also, will the iTunes Library files continue to stay on my laptop? Or does iTunes read those files from the external?

All in all, I'm just very confused as to what files should stay on my laptop and what files will be transferred and run off of my external. I want to be sure I have everything set perfectly before I delete any media off my laptop. I had originally manually copied my library to the external and had assumed I could just point iTunes to it, but that didn't work. That's when I learned I should move it from within iTunes. I still have some files on the external from my first attempt, which is also throwing me off. I really just need to know what files should be located where, as I would rather not have to do the whole copying process a 3rd time.

Thanks!
