Hey all,

So I have all my music and media on an NAS. I've run into a couple of situations though.

If I map my NAS as a network drive (iTunes folder) and set that as my iTunes media folder, everything shows up as my local music just like I want it to, and I can sync and backup my iPhone no problem (all going to my NAS).

The problem is when I disconnect from my home network (Thus no longer connected to the NAS) and open up iTunes it automatically switches my iTunes media folder back to the default one in the preferences menu. Is there a way to stop this from happening?? It's annoying having to switch it every time I go back home.

Now for my second option which I'm hoping someone has some experience with. I can't get a static IP from my ISP so I'm using a DDNS to point back to my Dynamic IP and is always updating if it changes (so it acts like a static). When I'm away (not on home network) I can connect to the server via this and access everything no problem. But when I'm on my home network it won't let me access this way (I've read it can cause some problems directing the external IP when your connected internally and ultimately isn't working right now). But it works fine when I'm on an outside network.

My overall goal is to be able to connect to my NAS from both within and outside of my home network and always have it stay as my media folder within iTunes no matter where I'm connecting to the internet. If this is possible that would be great otherwise if I could just accomplish the first task of not having iTunes automatically switch my iTunes media folder that'd be great.

Thanks!
