That 'minimalist' concept looks so user-unfriendly and needlessly image-heavy that it's probably a good guess at the future of iTunes itself.

It really has been all downhill since iTunes 7.0.
 
I like the control bar on the left side, but yeah, too many pictures and confusing buttons. Also, anyone who says "10.10 is the same 10.1" is silly.

Anyway, hoping Apple burn iTunes to the ground and rebuild for the next version.

No more of this unholy mishmash of radically different content types in a single dumbed down one size fits all Appzilla.
myOS might be a decent move as well. I've always wondered who the I in all those 'iProducts' was, Jobs? I'd rather have stuff that works well for ME.
 
You've taken a lot of useful info out of that song list view.
Name, artist, album, track#, time, rating, genre, plays, year, date added will de-prettify your layout quickly, and typing on the keyboard already easily gets me to songs starting with A, B, G, X etc.
