Dose anyone know a way to figure out if a movie sold on the itunes store in anamorphic standard def. rather than the 640 x 360 of the older movies, without actually buying the movies

As far as I know you can't. If the movie has an HD counterpart, it usually will use the Anamorphic Setting. Anything recently added to the store should be Anamorphic as well.
