Hi,

I had an impulse to buy Avatar on iTunes because I fancied watching an action movie in HD on my Mac, but I'm in the iTunes store an it doesn't specify what resolution the movie actually is - only that it's 'widescreen'.

I've searched on Google and not found any results, so can anyone tell me what resolution iTunes movies normally are and how I can find out?

Thanks

If it says "HD", then it's 1280 wide. If it doesn't say HD, it'll be 853 wide.

iTunes HD content is up to 1280x720, but wide-aspect movies will have a lower vertical resolution (I believe that it's 536 in this case).
iTunes SD is up to 853x480, again wide-aspect will take this down to... 356 high?

Thanks Nermal.

I'm on the UK store and it doesn't specifically mention HD for any films I can see new or old. But it does have it's own HD section for TV shows. So I'm guessing the UK store doesn't have HD movies?
