Hi,

I've been polishing up my iTunes library by updating and correcting all the track's information such as album name, track info, artists, album art, etc.

All is good - information displays perfectly fine on my iPhone when transferred and synced.

However, when I transfer the mp3 file to another device, say an Android phone, the information (tags/metadata) that I updated does not show up.

From my understanding, the track information that I updated is saved by iTunes and used only by iTunes (and iOS devices) and the track information is not saved or appended to the mp3 file itself but is stored in a separate iTunes file. This is why it's causing other music players on other devices to display the non-updated tags for the mp3 file (i.e. the tags embedded in the mp3 file itself).

My question is: how do I get iTunes to embed/append the track info I updated on iTunes to the mp3 file itself?

Also, what does "Convert ID3 Tags" do?

Would appreciate some help.

Thanks!

It's supposed to copy the data you want from the iTunes library into the MP3 tag.

But have you ever tried to bulk change an album name, or bulk download album art and iTunes inexplicably misses some tracks out? Same thing with Convert ID3 Tags, it misses tracks for no fathomable reason.

Try to find a third party utility to do it, Doug's Scripts probably has one.
