Hello,

I am a newbie with iTunes (and the Apple Mac for that matter).

I have all my music files stored on a Freecom FSG-3 file server on my network which is effectively a Samba (SMB) drive. The folder is shared and connects no problem. I can play all my music from there is no problem after adding to the library via the import command (I have set it so the music does not actually get moved across to the iTunes folder - just the library info).

Is there a way to set iTunes to monitor the folder so that it adds/updates new additions automatically to the library without me having to go back and add manually? Surely I am missing a trick somewhere? Every media player I have used has had this facility.

No, iTunes does not automatically monitor folders.

Really? Wow - that is missing a trick surely? No one else have problems with this? I am surely not the only one who wants to use iTunes this way?

Thanks for your reply.
