I am new to Mac. I had a Windows PC where MediaMonkey organized my music. New I switched over to a mac and lost MediaMonkey. I would like to have iTunes organize my music but I hesitate a bit. I don't want the get my music files as one big mess.
My music files are stored like
NAS:/Music/A/AlbumArtist/Year Albumtitle/DTT Songtitle.mp3 (for albums)
NAS:/Music/A/AlbumArtist/Artist - Songtitle.mp3 (songs without an album)
NAS:/Music/Various/Year Albumtitle/DTT Artist - Songtitle.mp3 (for compilations)
I am a little afraid that iTunes will mess up my songs (over 2500 items) which don't appear on any album (and have no album tag) and having a lot of coverless " albums" containing that song. Now they are put under "various artists".
Can anybody speed me up how I should tag or how I iTunes should organize my music?
PS: Are there benefits to store my music as "iTunes Music Server" on my NAS, or let iTunes do that my itself somewhere on my NAS?
