iTunes music price hike ?

Hi everyone,

Was just having a browse through the store for some new tunes and have noticed that there has been a price change to some of the songs,
Artists such as;

Black eyed peas
Lady Gaga
Linkin Park
Green Day

etc.

Anyone had any word on why this has happened ?

Prices have gone from $1.79NZD to $2.39NZD

Record Companies forced Apple to accept their variable pricing Result = increased prices for popular songs.

The variable pricing policy has been in effect since April.
