Just got a new Mac. I copied my entire collection over to the new Mac via a shared folder on the new Mac. Then I imported all the music into iTunes over there. Problem is... all my play counts and ratings on the music is gone. Any way to get those ratings to the new computer?

Ugh.. that sucks. Your link:

If you import music into a new library, you won't have playlists or ratings. If you want to retain those, copy the entire library and open it, rather than creating a new library and importing into it.

Ok... link works now. However.. I don't want to do home sharing... I don't want to move to an external hard drive, I don't want to transfer purchases, I don't need windows migration assistant and I don't want to backup to CDs/DVDs... I just want my ratings to come over. I tried exporting the playlist from the old and importing to the new one but that didn't do much.

You should have copied the whole iTunes folder, which included playlist, stars etc.

Just follow the directions.

I copied everything INSIDE /Computer/Main Drive/Users/jan/Music. I copied all the contents of the Music folder to the new computer. Then I imported all that.
